“Jesus, Not Judas” John 13:18-35

Our text today is usually focused on Judas and stirs up many questions, but today I want us to focus on Jesus. What can Judas’ betrayal teach us about the heart of God? The purpose of Scripture is to reveal the character of God. This text reveals to us the love and dedication Jesus had for His disciples, even Judas. Every time God says, “do what I have done”, He is talking about His heart. We can do the right thing, but still be wrong if our hearts are not right. This morning I pray that we would allow God’s word to penetrate our hearts and that we would choose to be changed by it because we cannot make something known that we do not know ourselves and if what we know is not changing the way we live then we do not actually know it.
