Last week our discussion focused on Jesus being rejected in Nazareth. Those who had known Him the longest could not get past who they thought He was to see His true identity. As it would have been difficult for any of us, it was hard for them to see that Mary’s Son could be the Son of God and so even though they were amazed at His wisdom and could not deny any of His “mighty works”, “they were offended at Him”. Mark went on to tell us that Jesus “could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them”. Jesus “marveled because of their unbelief” and then, according to Mark, He left Nazareth.
