On Wednesday night, October 4th, we begin our study of I Peter. This is a letter of encouragement, written to the suffering, to strengthen their hearts with constant reminders of Christ’s return. I Peter is different than most of the pastoral letters in that it was not written to address any misconduct or theological errors, it was solely for the purpose of strengthening the weary with reminders of Who they belonged to and where they belonged. Izaak Walton has described the letter as “affectionate, loving, lowly and humble”. These are not adjectives that we often associate with Peter, but in this letter, the influence of Jesus as His Shepherd shines through as he shepherds others. I’m excited to see how the Holy Spirit will guide us as we take Peter’s first letter and read it with the aim of seeing God’s character, Jesus’ love and our calling to live on earth from heaven all while watching and believing that Christ will soon return.

The Bible study meets every other Wednesday at the Kulynych’s home, 945 Bordentown Rd. in Burlington at 7:00. All are welcome. We apologize but childcare is not provided for this gathering. If you have any questions please email Abie, [email protected]
