On Sunday’s this year we are studying the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus’ seminal teaching on the Kingdom of God. As we study His teaching about God’s kingdom I thought it would be a perfect complement to study Jesus’ actions of living out God’s kingdom in the book of Mark. In general the book of Mark presents Jesus as the very embodiment of God’s kingdom, coming in power and might as the Son of God and also defeating sin and death as the Son of Man. Mark’s gospel is action packed moving from one act of Jesus’ power to the next and not developing detailed accounts of Jesus’ teaching as some of the other gospels do.
