Revelation 5:1-7 “The Lion is the Lamb”

Tonight, our study of the book of Revelation takes us to chapter 5 and introduces us to the Lamb. As we’ve talked about so many times, the entire letter is about Jesus, it is “The Revelation of Jesus Christ”, but as we dig through it, Jesus is revealed in many different ways. He has introduced Himself as the Alpha and the Omega, Him who lives and was dead, the Son of God, the One who holds the keys to hell and death as well as the key of dead. Now we will see Him as the One worthy to take the scroll that is in the hand of the Father. Too often we read this passage and want to rush ahead to the seals, we want to know what’s written on the scroll, but heaven is completely focused on the Lamb. What is it that makes Him worthy? What is it about the Lamb that makes the creatures and elders fall down and sing, that makes all the angels and beings of heaven shout that makes every creature ever created give Him glory? The answer will be found in His appearance, He is the Lion that looks like a Lamb that has been slaughtered, His power was perfected and performed in His death, His worth was displayed in His humility. Let’s talk tonight about Jesus, the One who is worthy of our praise because He was willing to submit Himself to the Father.
