Intercessory Teams

We are in the process of creating “teams” of people that will commit themselves to pray for specific people groups, purposes, etc. Our desire is that these teams build strong bonds of prayer for their focus and for each other, sharing the work and rewards of intercession.

The current teams are:

Burlington City Council

This team is asked to pray for all the members of city council and the Mayor of Burlington. In addition to daily prayer this team is asked to divide the responsibility of attending bi-weekly Council meetings. The purpose of this is to pray at the meetings and also to be able to share pertinent information with the church so that we can pray more strategically.

Burlington City Schools and Board of Education

This team is asked to pray for each school in our district as well as the District Superintendent and each member of the Board of Education. Like the City Council team, this team is also asked to divide the responsibility of attending bi-weekly Board of Education meetings. It is important, as a church body, that we know what is going on in our schools, so that we can pray with precision and accuracy.

National Leaders: President Obama, Senate and Congress

‘Therefore, I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.”    I Timothy 2:1-2

This prayer team is asked to pray for our national leaders each day, to pray for the revelation of Jesus as Lord and God, for wisdom and humility and for protection and provision.

In addition to this prayer team we have dedicated every Tuesday as a day of specific and focused prayer for our national leaders for everyone in our congregation.
