Tonight we will finish Hebrews 11, the great chapter of faith. The chapter starts with what has become our definition of faith, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” From that definition the rest of the chapter filled with examples of faith that illustrate the definition. From Abel to Enoch to Noah we see faith in action before God formed His people of Israel. Through Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph we see faith from and God’s work through the mother, father and lineage of not only Israel but of faith itself as 2:16 says “all who believe are descendants of Abraham.” Now we will see faith alive in the lives of Moses, Rahab and many other named and unnamed “believers” who walked by faith and not by sight.
