“Great Joy: The Government” Luke 2:9-12, Isaiah 9:1-7

We will be taking a break from our Book of John series, to spend a few weeks on the season of Advent. In Luke we see that the angel used two words to describe the birth of Jesus, “great joy”. Over the next few weeks we will be looking at the season of Advent through the lens of “great joy” because everything about the incarnation must be about great joy. Jesus entered a world that was full of hunger, distress, and darkness; He came to bring something that was absent and established something that required His physical presence. Today, as we begin this series, I pray that we all would understand the joy of being governed. That the government that was on Jesus shoulders was not about politics, opinions or what is popular, but rather one of redemption and salvation.
